ZapLab is a 7-row, 7-column slot with drop-down symbols and winning chains.
All winning chains in the current symbol drop are collected. After this, all symbols in the winning combination, except for Zappy and the feature symbols, are removed. The remaining symbols, except for Zappy, Dr. Mayhem and the feature symbols, move vertically until they stop. New symbols fall from above into the vacated spaces. The Avalanche feature will continue as long as new winning combinations appear.
Payout symbols from a winning chain are collected and increase the Monster Meter. Each exploded symbol position increases the Monster Meter by one notch. The Monster Meter has 25 notches in normal mode, 20 in the Shockwaves Hunt X-iter mode, and 150 in Shockwaves. A full Monster Meter awards a randomly selected Feature symbol or a randomly selected Monster Feature. Possible Feature symbols are Omniblast, Electroshift, and Twilight Twirl. Possible Monster Features are Monster Reload, Wild Flip, Monster Chunks, Monstrous, and Zapocalypse. Filling the Monster Meter 5 times triggers Shockwaves.
The Monster Meter counts the number of symbols collected and when the meter is full, it awards random Monster features or random feature symbols. When the meter is filled for the fifth time, Shockwaves are activated, which award all Monster features.
Re-spinning symbols is rewarded.
Selects a random symbol type and replaces it with Wild symbols.
Selects a random number of symbols and replaces them with a 2 x 2 symbol.
Selects a random payout symbol or Wild and expands it to 3 x 3, 4 x 4, 5 x 5.
A random number of Dr. Mayhem symbols are dropped, then Zappy shocks them.
Dr. Mayhem is a blocker symbol that can appear on the field during any symbol drop. The Monster Meter increases when Zappy removes the Dr. Mayhem symbol from the playing field with the help of electricity.
Features gained from filling the Monster Meter are delayed until there are no wins left. The delayed feature is activated and the game round continues until there are no wins left before the next feature is activated.
Flashing colors on the Monster Meter indicate which feature is activated when it fills. Delayed features are indicated by a solid color. The following color codes are used:
At the end of a round, the Monster Reload feature triggers a new re-spin of symbols when there are no more wins. Potential Zappy symbols remain on the field during the re-spin.
At the end of the round, the Wild Flip feature is activated when there are no more wins. It randomly selects a payout symbol on the game board and replaces all its copies with Wild symbols. At the end of the round, the Monster Chunks feature is activated when there are no more wins. It selects a random number of payout or Wild symbols on the game board and replaces them with 2 x 2 symbols. At the end of the round, the Monstrous feature is activated when there are no more wins. It randomly selects a payout or Wild symbol on the game board and expands it to 3 x 3, 4 x 4 or 5 x 5. At the end of the round, the Zapocalypse feature is activated when there are no more wins. A random number of Dr. Mayhem symbols appear, replacing existing symbols and activating a Zappy shock attack.
Omniblast explodes and replaces all pay symbols in an x-shape, including itself, with a random one.
Electroshift picks a random symbol type and upgrades it, including itself, to a more valuable one.
Twilight Twirl selects a random payout symbol type, transforms into it and removes all other payout symbols.
Wild symbols substitute for any payout symbol.
Zappy is a Wild symbol. It substitutes for all pay symbols. It shocks Dr. Mayhem symbols outside the game board, increasing its multiplier. Zappy can expand to 2 x 2, 3 x 3 or 4 x 4 during the last shock.
Zappy is a Wild symbol that can appear on the field during any symbol landing. It jumps to a new randomly selected position if it lands on a winning chain. Zappy leaves behind a Wild symbol and immediately shocks all Dr. Mayhem symbols, removing them from the playing field until a win is assessed. Each shock attack increases Zappy’s multiplier. Zappy can grow to 2 x 2, 3 x 3 or 4 x 4 during the last shock attack before a win is assessed.
A winning chain consists of 5 or more identical symbols connected orthogonally.
Shockwaves are activated when the Monster Meter fills up five times. They trigger all Monster features, which are activated and triggered one after another. The game round continues until there are no wins left before the next Monster feature is triggered. Monster features are activated in the following order:
